I guess its because it is made in New Zealand and is made from a special Merino Fleece - I think Ice Breaker use the same fabric for their jackets. It is well made and has been hard wearing I will use it when my next baby grows out of his sleeping bag too. Baby factory also stock a cheaper version but it is not Merino
Good luck

It is brilliant and has been especially good because he can walk around in it and doesnt get so frustrated as he used to in his sleeping bag when he started to move around. It has a really cool foId over foot and is pure merino so not as hot and sweaty as the cheaper polyester polar fleece ones. It has been especially good since moving him into a bed as he kicks off his blankets. He has hasnt woken up cold at night at all - it has been great for is night time routines - I just put it over his PJs after his bath and he looks so cute cruising round in it. I bought it online at www.pepisnugglesuit.co.nz. Check it out.
