We used bothing the first summer (Isla was born mid Oct), just kept her out of the sun and /or covered,..last summer we used Ecostore sun block,...its quite thick but did the job, but u can alwsy tell she had it on IYGWIM,..and now Im using that at home, but have got her another natural one from the health shop to leave at daycare- goes on better and smells less strong. Its in a pink tube and is 50+ and for kids and very sensitve skin- $20. I was advised the only sunscreen that is effective and safe to use on babies less than 6 months was Mustela. We've just got back from Fiji and it was brilliant, easy to apply, stayed on well, even with Ella in the pool all the time. Only down side is it is expensive. $34 for a small spray bottle. I have used Toddler Milk on Lauren since she was 6 weeks old and it is fine on her skin and she is sensitive as anything and has eczema!

We've been using the Hawaiian Tropic Baby Faces on our girl and it's been fine.

We started using it last summer when she was 6mths old and we've never had any problems.  I totally agree with the posts about keeping them out of the sun as much as possible though.  Saw heaps of people last summer with young babies at the beach without hats or anything

Whatever anyone thinks, babies DO NOT need a tan! LOL

We have just spent 2 weeks in bali and I used the Hawaian Tropics one and it was awesome...although he doesn't even have the slightest tan to show for his holiday

My boy was born in Nov and we went camping etc when he was 6 weeks - although we did the whole shade etc there were times that it wasn't possible so we used the hawian Tropic stuff on him from 6 weeks with no problems. My bubba was born in Nov last year and I kept her out of the sun rather than use sunblock - it was easy, but you definitely need a sunshade for the buggy.

I'd been wondering about this too because like HUNTD it will be summer when baby arrives...so should you not use sunblock on newborns? Nivea Kids in teh spray bottle I use on my kids. We also have some that is called Banana Boat from Oz and that is great.

I have used the Cancer Society children's one on Jack but it is quite thick and as he still doesn't really have any hair I have to put it over his whole head. I have just ordered the new Nutrimetics one for kids and will try that on him. There's one in a pink bottle by - I think - Sunsense call Toddler Milk, I've found that really good in the past. Now that summer is finally here, do you have any recommendation for sunblocks for babies? My boy is fair with red hair so really need to cover up. Am just concerned that if I slather all over he will rub his hands in it and then in eyes or mouth.
