Hi Ladies, Many thanks for your great ideas. I change J on a change table as its easier on my back so not in a position to pin him down. However I have found a safety strap attached so have started using that.   Giving a book was a really good thought as he loves books. Wasn't too successful with any old one, but a bit better with his favourite. Love the sticker idea too - just makes me laugh thinking about it. Its still a bit hit and miss but you've given me loads to think about. I ask gabrielle to hold something for mummy or give her a toy. She went through a phase of havinga c omplete tanty and trying to roll away and she is strong!! I would pin her down which was really hard and ask her to lie still. She has given up on the fighting it now as she knows it will be quicker if she lies still. After all those tries, I'd give a warning and then leg-pin. If you are sitting on the floor, stretch your legs out almost straight ahead of you so that they are basically over the tops of baby's arms. It doesn't hurt them (well it could if they struggled enough) and it gets the change over and done with far quicker. use a change table and enforce a no rolling rule. then he can't get away.

tell him that it's time to change his nappy before you go to do it, so he knows what to expect.

sing a special nappy changing song?

just some ideas....hope you find something that works.

We sometimes put stickers on Leah so she has to peel them off. Some on her arms and tummy, but then she is a lot older (but still a pain to change !!!)

I pulled out the old baby gym when Jack went through that stage and would only let him play with it at nappy time. I am still changing Oli on the change table, and he screams blue murder whenever I change his bum. He fights me something chronic, but I strap him down quite tight and give him something to hold, and try to do it as quick as possible!

Yep I do the same, us something to distract and then if that fails he gets pinned down by my legs.

When Daniel does that and I can't distract him with something novel (usually we use a torch that he can flick on and off) I put him down and hold his upper arms down with my feet so hes pinned down. 10 month old J is getting bigger and stronger and naturally his nappies are more disgusting.   I used to be able to hold both of his feet up with one hand while clearing up the mess with the other but now he is insisting on kicking his legs free and arching his back and slamming it back down again (which really annoys me when he's got poo up his back). I've tried distracting him with different things to hold in the hope of calming him down but with not much luck.
