Hey Aliasmum, did you get your witch hazel just from the pharmacy? I got a small bottle yesterday, it's called distilled witch hazel.
The pharmasist said it could sting a little because there is a wee bit of ethanol in it. (Haven't tried it yet).

Oh get this, she asked me if I also suffered from constipation ...... duh, how she think I got those nasty things?
Anyway, according to her treatment wasn't gonna do much good if I didn't fix the constipation.
What planet is that woman from?????
Does she think I LIKE to be constipated?
I stuff myself full with fibre, I eat kiwi fruits + lots of other fruits, I try to walk half an hour each day. I'm pulling my hair out and I'm still constipated. It's not exactly by choice.

Foxxy_one yep it did, I haven't had them so bad since either, might be a coincidence though. When you first put it on as well cause it felt cool it was nice & soothing.

Kateandahalf, didn't know you could get a cream, where did you get that from?

I wonder what will happen this labour! Kiwicrush is great you find it in the frozen foods section with the berries etc. helps keep you regular and keeps them soft if you know what I mean.

And wizards ointment - a natural remedy that has witch hazel and other things that help in it. I used (and still use) witch hazel but mine is a cream rather than the lotion. It's great because you don't need to put it on a pad or anything.

Also the other thing that helped mine was pelvic floor exercises - apparently it helps decrease any swelling...

Mine went after I had Spencer but would come back if I got constipated and they appeared much sooner this pregnancy. I can only suggest things to stop them 'flaring' up e.g. loads of water, kiwifruit, kiwi juice, prunes, fibre, etc. I think you get to the stage where you just have to manage them.

Though this isn't exactly classified as a 'potion,' if you're looking for a bit of relief:

The lady who took our antenatal class suggested getting a rubber/latex/vinyl glove, tying all but the middle finger up, filling it with water and putting it in the freezer. Once it's frozen, pull it out, and... well... you can fill in the blanks! Apparently it makes a huge difference

I don't envy you - hope they clear up soon!

WITCH HAZEL lol.......nice & soothing as well. You can buy it from your chemist. I just put in on a round makeup pad & tucked it between my cheeks gosh that's TMI but seriously when they hurt it's a dream putting witch hazel on, it's liquid so you need to use something to soak the 'roid which is why those makeup pads are good. I put it on as often as I could.

Nice cheap option too.

Also I was told the lots of water etc etc but also to never try to go #2...as it's the pressure that is what makes them worse.

I drink Benefibre every day to help with my bowel movements.

I had them until recently too, during pregnancy they were shocking and then don't even mention what they were like after birth

Yep the baths can help but not suitable when pregnant as its the hotter the better. Also I drink kiwijuice every day to try and help things along. I used anusol for a bit but found it quite gritty and irrating (TMI overload).

Oh I hate them! Kelpa, I had a fissure too and ended up having to have surgery to fix that and the hemorrhoids.

I second the lots of fibre and water, I also got some Lactulose prescribed by the doctor to help keep things soft. Kiwifruit are your friend! Apparently warm salt baths are good but I never tried it.

Other thing is to use damp toilet paper or buy some flushable wipes to use in the toilet.

I was offered surgery although there is a waiting list a million miles long, plus i had to weigh up the pro's and con's of the possible side effects of the surgery being done. It's bad enough having these horrid things there let alone thinking of whats gonna be cut and pulled and OMG it's to scary to even think about. Hi there, I was just wondering what other people have used for relief of these nasty little critters.

 I have Ultraproct, Proctosedyl,  Lignocaine gel, & xylocaine jelly which are all good for me, but I was wondering what else is out there or any safe home rememdies.

I constantly have them but only certain times they become painful & I know how to deal with mine but I just thought other info about how you'd treat them might be beneficial for other ladies who are suffering from these horrible things...
