Hi Emma,

You won't have to pay any additional gst in NZ when importing something from overseas if it is for your own use and costs less than NZ $700,- . I looked into this when I brought a bike back from Holland last year.

By the way the fact that cyclists in the US don't wear helmets has nothing to do with the quality of US manufactured items. FYI, in Holland we don't wear helmets on our bicycles, and it's actually much much safer to bike there than here in NZ.

The only thing like some people mentioned is warrenty. I wouldn't be too sure of that. From what I've seen, in the US, cars don't need a WOF (and there are some real rust-buckets driving around), cyclists and MOTORcyclists don't have to wear helmets and a few other things that have really surprised me. I bought my Bugaboo Cameleon from www.babycare.nl after a lot of research as the waiting list through Nature Baby was ridiculous last year. It was an 08 model in new colours which had just been released in Europe, it took another 8 months or so for them to be released in NZ - I still haven't seen anyone with the same colours as me

Even with postage it worked out about $300 cheaper than buying locally, and I wasn't charged any customs fees.

Most U/S sites don't ship that sort of stuff overseas and the postage will be extremely high not worth spending $$$

Don't see why you couldn't, the only thing would be the shipping costs, as they aren't small or light so this might make them more expensive.
I'd go for it if you find one you like. Their safety standards are more likely higher than ours, as for repairs what's likely to go wrong with them that can't be easily fixed.

Why would it have to? It's not like a carseat.
Plus, the US is alot more strict on their regulations.
