I think for me some lingerie, no bra or open bra is sexy and best for me. I wear this ha-ha!! I got it from the Spicy Lingerie, today I remember that my hubby offer me to wear this type of sexy bra, when we were newly married, from that time I love that type of bra. I also wear regular bras, but at night I prefer to wear an open bra. So comfortable!!! I think the key to getting a good bra is to find a good sales assistant. I bought my first maternity bra at 36 weeks from a little boutique place where the lady wasn't very helpful but I was desperate for a bra so bought one that turned out to be not as supportive as I thought.

A week later I went to the Bendon shop in Sylvia Park and the lady was brilliant. She talked about which areas would get bigger and smaller for breastfeeding and when things settled down. She measured me as a 14E but then brought me heaps of different ones to try till we got the prefect fit which ended up being a 16DD. Your ribcage circumference increases by about 6cm according to one paper I read. Towards the end of my pregnancy, I found that my ribcage expanded outward due to bubs. I managed to stay in a size 12, but did have to loosen the bra (from 1st clips to last). I'm guessing depending on how far your ribs move, you might have to go up a size. This might seem weird but how come people go up in size eg from 12 to 16? Mine have been growing and I went to Farmers and the lady there wasn't very helpful and told me to get one that felt comfy, I went from a 14D to 14DD and said it felt quite tight on my back and she said you want it to be tight on your back... but I don't like the back fat squishing out... hee hee

I since them brought two from Kmart yesterday, one a 14DD and one a 14E... am wondering if I will need to go to a 16 soon but don't know what difference it will make.

Pre-pregnancy I was a 12E and by 20 weeks I went up to a 16FF. When I got fitted at 20 weeks Bendon they had buy 2 get 1 free deal. I got refitted last week and still in the same size thank goodness.

I didn't need new bras until about 26/30 weeks but maybe that's because I went from 12A to 12B LOL
This time I'm filling up my A's quite nicely so maybe I'll be making the shift into B's at 20 weeks? I have been waiting for my bra size to *stabilise*, but they seem to just be getting bigger! I was a 12F/G pre-pregnancy, and have had to go at least 3 cup sizes up but just wanted to add - there is a huge selection of larger sizes (both maternity and not) online at blest bras . They are more expensive, but I'm used to that! I have found the maternity Bra's on offer from Bendon not all that great, not very supportive. I went in on friday & got a normal Fareform one, feels ok I guess at least it's supportive.

I went and got fitted properly at a specialist bra shop, The one in Coleman Mall in Palmy Nth, if she's still there. That was the best bra I bought the whole time & I wish I could have afforded more. It was a triumph one.

I didn't! In pregnancy, I went from 12B to 14D I think - I got my first preggy bras at 8 weeks, then got more at 36 weeks cos I had exploded out of them. Then I had to do an emergency trip to Farmers the day after getting home cos I'd gone up again to 14E. I've been feeding for 7 weeks, and am still almost busting out of the 14Es! Great post to find after I tried to go shopping today.  The Bendon shop assistant (was useless) and wouldnt let me look at nursing bras....only soft cup and they only went to a 16DD and I am an 18DD or a 16E (bloody wide across the back..should have been a swimmer).  It was so frustrating.  She wouldnt let me look at the whole range as she said that I would be wasting my money as I would need to buy more nursing ones later.  I couldnt see her logic as I still had to buy a bra now and more later. GRRRRR!!!!

I dont know what I will try next.  My maternity bras from last time are looking a bit tired and not as supportive anymore. THose fareform ones sound good.

I bought triumph bras towards the end of my first trimester from kmart - they seem to have a good range of cheapo maternity bras. At that point I'd moved from a 12B to a 12C. At about 5 months along I ended up going shopping again as they didn't feel like they were giving me enough support.

Went to Bendon and got fitted for maternity bras... couldn't believe it when she said I was a 14DD. They had a 2 for 1 deal so I got two maternity bras and one breastfeeding (in the hopes it may poss fit when the time comes...). They also had the motherlove deal where if you buy three bras you can send away to get another one free. So once I got that one in the post, I'd ended up spending a total of $90 and got myself four really nice bras. (They really do fit so much nicer compared to the kmart ones. I don't feel half as frumpy with them on.) Needless to say I was quite pleased with myself!

Well much to my husbands joy, bra shopping has been a monthly experience as I've gone from a ' I can pull of an A cup, adds a bit of size' to a 'Gee look at me in my D's!'. Because of this growth farmers and the warehouse have been my best friends and I've just gone for the funky bright cheapo deals.  

There is a lady who came into work briefly (no pun intended) the other day, who spends an hour fitting you at her store in town, and she stocks different colours and materials. With my constant growth, I'm not going to go and visit her till about 36wks because I think her bras are around $80 a shot. (I've never spent more then $30 on one....)

Ella, where abouts in NZ are you? Is there a Bendon outlet store near you? Oh that's how I felt last week too Ella, have been putting off bra shopping for so long because it's so annoying/depressing trying to find the right size, that's comfy, supportive, and not hideous! I went to Farmers last weekend and they didn't have ANY maternity bras up to my size! Ridiculous.

I haven't been able to find anything!
I usually wear underwire bras, but they've become so uncomfortable. Two weeks ago I went shopping for a new bra and ended up in tears. Literally.
I'm usually a D but have gotten bigger already. In the end I asked my mum if she could please send one over from Holland.

I have gone from 12E to a 16FF  Bendon store had buy to 2 get 1 free, lucky I had some vouchers from Dh. The lady I deal with all the time is great I have been washing wearing one and take the other two back in a couple of weeks and get re fitted again as I don''t want to be spending $$$ on bras.

kiwisj - I got one pregnancy bra which is an Evolve, number on the tag is F68-5060. And I got two of those feeding bras with the clips on them (just cos there were more of them and they're just as comfy) - hmm they also seem to be called evolve and the number is F71-5060. Hope that helps!

I bought a couple of cheap ones without wire when I was about 3-4 months preg - have now been told at antenatal that you should get fitted at 36weeks for your maternity bras because apparently thats the size you'll probably go back DOWN to after the first bit of breastfeeding.

I'm an F/G cup, so you E girls are lucky lol.. Triumph have the best maternity bras for big busts I find. They aren't that sexy but they are super comfy and still support. Next time I'm just going to buy a couple more white triumph bras and die them different colours lol

I bought a bra about the same stage as you - I was so uncomfortable ... but I'd gone from a C cup to a DD, so hardly surprising. Auntie Sarah, what is the style of Fayreform bra you ended up getting?

I'm hoping to get my Mum to send some over from Aussie. I'm also an E and find it absolutely impossible to buy bras over here .. let alone maternity ones as well now that I seem to have changed shape (not sure if I'm really bigger?). Mothercare and Marks & Spencers sell maternity bras up to a D cup. Not helpful! I bought a couple from Egg but they're not particularly supportive and aren't really practical in the heat over here either.

Have been shopping at the Bendon factory shop...last time I went in there I got annoyed because they had maternity bras going up to a DD (and I'm an E to start with). Well went back in today and they have a whole lot of new Fayreform ones...don't know how big they go but I saw a few HH's in there!

Anyway, tried some on and had a helpful assistant help me with sizes and ended up getting three bras which retail at $85 each for a total of $50! Score!

When did other people buy new bras?
