Like Faith, I plan to use the scented bags and chuck them in the normal rubbish.

We started off with a Sangenic, ended up selling it on TM shortly after my boy was born ....the refills were costing me an arm and a leg (an unnecessary expensive IMHO) and so darn fiddly and when it came time to remove them all from the bin - talk about total puke moment. I absolutely CRINGED having to do it.

I have a normal 20l bin with biodeg liner and I have no problems....if I had many poo nappies I emptied the bin often (really NB dont really smell) but as DD got older and Poo's started to smell I just got rid of the poo (toilet) and then wrapped the nappy well and again made sure I emptied the bin often...so I never had a "Smell problem".

I thought about getting this but decided why fix what is not broken?? I love ours and wouldn't be without it. You can buy the refills in packs of 3 and they work out at around $15 each, or stock up on them when Farmers have their 30% off sales and they go down in price to around $12. We used one in the first few weeks because we don't have an outside bin to put nappies in and a weeks worth of nappies sitting around inside can get a bit much But we found that the refils just made the whole thing way too expensive. Firstly let me say that I am well aware of the environemental impact of disposables, and wrapping these also. However, I have a very poo-phobic DH and we made the decision to get a sangenic bin to help with this problem. Guilt aside - I LOVE IT....no tramping through the house to the wheely bin out the back, no smells, nice and easy. Wouldnt be without it now!

To ease my conscious we have made some efforts to do other things to limit household waste,  recycle etc.

ETA - the refills can get pricey though, they are about $19 a pop and I think a cartridge lasts us about 3 weeks...depending on how many poo-ey nappies we have. At the moment we are getting 3 - 4 really grotty ones a day!!

Well... I don't like disposables as it is, and please don't be offended, but they take long enough to break down at a landfill as it is - using a nappy wrapper doubles that time - from 100+ years to double that... YUCK! I've been told these are great and I had only heard of Sangenic prior to shopping. Are they worth getting and is Sangenic the best? I've also seen Dekkor and maybe another brand, any opinions?
