From what i read the 2nd trimester is the only time it isnt really recommended i was told tho if i was to take it to make sure my midwife knew as toning of the uterus makes it more favourable for labour and more likely to be a quicker easier labour not bring labour on sooner.

So check that out before you take it. Luckily my m/w was well researched in this and has not had a mother haemorrage on her ever. I chose not to take it because of this factor (my mother haemorraged after both my sister and I were born). Yes I went 3 days overdue and had a bad labour but that was due to a very difficult posterior baby and a tilted uterus.

But yeah, take the advice of your m/w as she's the medical professional, not google (google is not your friend )

Some people recommend taking it from your second trimester and others recommend it from the third trimester. I decided just to take it once I knew that the baby would be considered term so have only just started in the last week. I think some things say take 3-4 cups per day in the last few weeks but I decided I'd play it safe and just stick to two. From what I could find there wasn't that much to suggest it makes that much difference to the length of your labour but it does decrease your chances of needing intervention during labour. I've definitely noticed quite a few more braxton hicks since I started drinking it, but that may just be where I'm at in pregnancy stages anyway - not sure.
