The Natures Sway one also comes with a door clamp so you can hang it in a doorway.

I finally decided to go and buy one yesterday, I got the NS one since it comes with more than the Miyo one. Although the Miyo one looks so cute and DD looked adorable in it but it definitely is smaller than the NS.

DD really loves it, she still woke up 4 times last night but it was so easy to get her back to sleep, I just fed her and put her in the hammock and she rocked herself to sleep. So much better than me having to sit up in bed and rock the bassinet.

How do you use them if you are renting? Wouldn't want baby hanging from a door frame at night, and can't really put a hole in the ceiling to attach a hook to. I've only had experience with the NaturesSway one so can't comment on the others - the Miyo hammock does not come with the doorclamp so it is another $45 for that. The NaturesSway one DOES come with one for the $197 - depends how you plan to suspend it. We used the bolt and suspended it from the roof.

I've just been into Baby Factory and now I'm so confusd about what hammock to buy.

Th Miyo & Natures Sway ones are $199. The Little Snuggles one on Trade Me is about $150 with postage.
So I'm not sure what one would be best. I guess they are basically all the same anyway, but I want to make sure I get the best for my money

No, unfortunately not. My midwife said that she suggests using the apnoea monitors that attach to bubs if you want to keep an eye on their breathing.

DS was in his until around 7 months and he was not a small baby - very solid & long.There was still room left so would have been able to stay in longer too.

Has anyone tried the little snuggles ones off Trade Me?

We think DD has a bit of reflux too, so I guess a hammock would really help with that.
I'm glad that some of you have had your bubs in it until 7 months or more as I would hate to buy one now and find that she couldn't be in it for too long. She is quite short anyway so that shouldn't be a problem.

We had a NaturesSway one for DS and found it great. The thing I loved about it is his own movements would rock/bounce him and help with settling. I also would give it a good swing which would rock him for 5 mins or so which was enough to settle him to sleep. I highly recommend them

I have the Miyo and the NaturesSway ones on my website if you wanted to compare brands. Have you tried a swaddle wrap? SwaddleMe These are excellent for keeping baby warm and snug.

We loved our Natures Sway for both our bubbas. Ella was in it till 7 months and Benjy until 4 months. (He was looooong)
They both self settled in it really well because it bounces and sways them back to sleep when they stir and as you say, it cocoons them so they feel secure and cuddled in there.
We also found it really good for Benjy's reflux. We had an Amby baby hammock for DS from the start, it was great. The whole concept made a lot of sense to us.

He was in it till 6 mths when he started seriously bouncing it himself, too much fun to go to sleep! But they say it can be used up to 12 mths depending on the child. Its bigger than the Nature Sway one and IMHO the frame is more stable.

We had probs with settling him at night esp the first 6 wks (wind/colic) but was sleeping thru from 11 wks (til he started teething at 7 mths!).   And this thru *major* house renovations - he slept thru all sorts of racket. We dragged it round the house as different rooms were dismantled and rebuilt!

The best baby item we bought I reckon. Theres one on TMe at the mo, search for 'amby'. Google Amby for their website - designed by a guy in Aussie and now sold all over the world. Some NZ online retailers have them too.

We have used a Natures Sway hammock from the start and love it. Not sure about the size. I think Liv will be in it until at least six months - she's got about another 10cm until she hits the end. She's been self settling for ages and sleeping through regularly since about 9 weeks. But I don't know whether that's due to her nature, routine or the hammock or a combo! She certainly looks cosy and happy in there.

Maybe your daughter isn't sleeping for longer stretches for other reasons though. Are you doing the 4 s's - swaddle, shush, lay baby on her side and sway?

Or is it something feeding wise - like she's little so needs to feed that frequently?

DD is 6 weeks and I've been having trouble getting her to sleep since we first bought her home from the hospital.
She will only sleep or 2 1/2 hours at a time. I usually feed her then put her back to bed and she often cries so I rock her until she goes to sleep.

Shes currently sleeping in a bassinet right beside our bed, so I just gently rock her bassinet.

I was wondering if a hammock might be better for her. She prefers to sleep on me at night as she obviously likes the comfort. So the hammock might cocoon her and make her feel more safe and also might gently rock when she wakes.

I don't want to buy one though and have her not like it, but why wouldn't she like it? I'm sure she would love it but it still might not help her sleep better, but I'm desperate to try anything right now. I'm so tired from being up every 2hours at night.
