If you are unsure about going back to work apply for as much parental leave as you can get from your job - ie a year, and make the decision to go back or not once your 14 weeks PPL has been paid. If you resign before you get your PPL you are not entitled to it anymore. If you resign part way through your PPL your entitlements stop from the day you resign.

So if you took the full 52 weeks and earned $0 then its paid at zero. That is why you should take your annual leave before you go on parental leave. You need to be back at work a full year for it to be paid at your usual payrate. If you've got any questions PM me, I'm an HR Manager so have a good knowledge of Employment Law.

Which basically means, that if you don't either use your entire leave balance or get paid it out before you go on parental leave, when you return and use the annual leave you will get paid at a reduced rate as it has been diluted by the new accrual. Therefore I got mine paid out before I went on leave. Hope this makes sense.

Are you not entitled to PPL?

Edited by .Mel

Seems unfair that i am not paid for them when if i were at work at the time i would be. Does anyone know?
