4 hours from first niggle! I was induced with gel, but no sintocinon. Was a bit of a shock, I never realised it would be that fast... very very intense!

Well we were in labour for 36 hours, Lily was also Posterior, 2hrs 45mins of Pushing and then she was delievered by Forceps. Didnt get much sleep at all. What a long road but we got there and we want to do it again hehehehe...

From the first contractions it took 65 hours for him to be delivered it was long and gruelling and painful but he came out in the end! Had to have a forceps delivery in the end as his head got stuck, he weighed 9lb 12oz (2 weeks late!)

I was induced, had first lot of gel at 7am on the Saturday, another lot that afternoon and a third lot the next day around midday. So I was in the delivery suite for a day and a half before anything happened - I didn't get any contractions until about 3pm on the Sunday, and they were mild. Once my waters were broken at about 7pm things took off and DD1 was born at 9pm. My labour is recorded as being about 2.5 hours long.

With DD2 I was having contractions from the night before, but again nothing major - I slept through the night. At about 2pm the next day they suddenly got very intense and DD2 was born at 2.50pm. My active labour is recorded as being 50 minutes long, but if you count the contractions I had earlier in the day (I cleaned the house during them, so not that bad), it was longer.

My first regular contractions started 4days earlier but the painful labour only lasted 18hours for my first.

My first contraction was at 2.30am, by 9.30am I was 9 1/2cm and on my way to the hospital. Oliver was 23hrs from the very first contraction (very mild and about 15min apart), but about 17 hrs of active labour, 45 mins of pushing then a couple of hours for the placenta (was retained).

42 1/2 hours (the 1/2 hour was very important!)   2 1/2 houra pushing.
Didn't sleep for around 2 days from time of day it started to time of day finishing - getting sorted and finally sleeping - and they wonder why I wasn't keen to get up and shower after haveing him!

Good to know though my 2nd was classed as 4 hours but i would say 1/2 hour at most (as thats really when it started to hurt bad!) 3rd elective ceasar so no labour

ETA: Josh was posteria and got stuck on my pelvic bone and came out with a huge bruise on his head. He was 9lb 5oz. They didn't use forcepts but there was talk of it.

Haha me too i also begged mum to get me any drugs (just sneak in and raid the cabinet and bring it all were my words i think) and she said no you've got plenty of time for that! How wrong was she i was 4cm when i got to hospital and an hour later i was fully dialated. But hey im a huge whimp and i got Josh out naturally footling breech so if i can do it ANYONE can.

Waters broke early afternoon on the first day, contractions strong at night and wee hours of the morning but slackened off during the day. 48hrs after waters broke was sent to hospital and induced with syntocinon. Nine hours later, was induced again and given epidural, and delivered baby 4 1/2hrs later again.......all up was about 60 hours in labour!

Eeek, when I put it like that, what the @#%$^ am I doing pregnant again! My waters broke at 1am on the 22nd of October (Which was labour day) and I had strong BH type contractions and went into the hospital at 6.30p that night the BH continued through the until the Synto was started at 8am the next morning.. then it was fully established labour and my little girl was born at 5.57a on the 24th

For me it was 22 hours in total from my waters breaking at 5.30am Thursday morning until Samantha was born at 3.30am Friday morning. Time is so irrelevant once you are actually living it though - it might as well have been 3 hours as it was such a blur

And sadly I do remember what contractions felt like, but am still willing to do it again

I had to be induced... twice. My waters had to be broken... my entire labour went for around 14 hours. My son was 14 days overdue and obviously rather happy to stay put!!!

Full on Contractions started 4.30am Sat morning. In and out of Hospital because I wasnt dialating (sp??)......Induced to get that going 10am Sun.......had DD 4.21am Monday.

Had a few niggles on Thursday afternoon.
Show at 12am Saturday.
Called mw at 6am Saturday to ask about show and mentioned back pains. She told us to get to the hospital.
Established labour - 4cm at 7am.
Started pushing at 1pm.
34 mins later she was here - waters broke as she crowned.

just under 7 hours for my first one....that doesn't include feeling uncomfortable for most of that morning (not in pain).
Second one was 2.5 hours. Had a fair few niggles for a day or so before hand, had a show about 5 days before i had Paris and niggly all weekend so was probably early labour... i think it depends on how much people notice it... i was alwayso n the go with so much to do that i didn't really notice any pattern to the niggles, just got really anoyed at not being able to walk properly when i went to the home show, and having to go all the way back thru crowds to the loo every 5 mins.

Anyway, active labour.. started at 5am with waters breaking, contractions began at 6am, fully dialated at 9.15 am, 2hours of pushing later and Paris was born at 11.07am...... so, 5 hours from start of contractions to finish, 2 of those pushing.

Not everyone it really long first time round, so do be wary... My labour onset at 1.30am and went through til 9.25am. Officially (hospital notes) it was 7 hours but 8 from the first contraction to the last. (Hrmmm... I can't recall what contractions feel like anymore! Yay for memory loss)

I was absolutely exhausted by the morning even though the actual labour wasn't thaaaaat long. I think it was a combo of the drugs (pethidine), being the middle of the night when labour onset, and pushing for an hour. I was induced twice, so if you take it from the first time, was given gel at 8.30am and didnt have the baby til 6 days later :P But if you take it from the second induction, it was 18 hours and then a caesar cuz I wasnt progressing. LOL, I love rummikub. I was playing rummikub during prelabour while at home with DH and Mum. Andrew: was induced at 7.30am had the gel again at 1pm. Nothing happened till 9pm when my waters broke and Andrew arrived at 1am on the dot. Between 7.30am and 9pm I did have niggles but nothing that really did anything. So from induction it was 18 hours, but on my records it is 4 hours.

Joshua: was induced at 9.30am waters were broken for me at 3pm and Andrew arrived at 7.08pm. So from induction it was 9 1/2 hours and from when it all started just over 4 hours again.

With Andrew I couldn't sleep the night before (don't know if it was nerves or excitment - or the fact that the woman in the bed next to me was snoring so loudly) so got about 3 hours I think was awake from 6am through till 4am the next morning.

From start of contractions to delivery was 41 hours but my actual clinical labour was 17 hours. Wed night till Thurs lunchtime I had manageable contractions, I didn't sleep much but that was more excitement and nerves than pain. By lunchtime on Thurs things were starting to get intense and I went to hospital at 11pm that night coz I couldn't handle the pain on my own anymore. She was born at 8.11am on Fri morning.

But bear in mind that she was posterior, so a lot of the early latent stage was her trying to turn into the correct position for delivery.

And like everyone else says, you hardly notice the lack of sleep. I stayed awake all day Fri just watching her sleep. I woke up with niggles at about 1am, waters broke at about 2am and it was full on from there - contractions about 4 minutes apart straight away. We were confused as to what to do cos everything we'd heard said the contractions start a few hours apart, or at least like half an hour!! Lol our thoughts of playing Rummicub whilst waiting for things to get going quickly went out the window We stayed at home for as long as possible and when they got really intense we headed into Birthcare at 5am. Our boy was born at 8.14am.

Woke at 3am to go to the toilet and waters broke (8 days early), contractions started about 4am but weren't too bad as I dosed a bit until DH woke at his alarm about 6am. Contractions all day but I think I managed to have a small nap in the armchair about late morning. About 2pm-ish the MW arrived at our place and at about 3pm I decided I needed pain relief so we headed to the hospital. Jack was born at 6.56pm, I think I started pushing about 5/5.30pm - most of it is a hazy blur! My waters broke at 2pm, and my labour started pretty much at the same time. I woke up at 7am, started having contractions later that day, was in actual labour from 5pm so up all night that night ,..in hospital at 3am,..finally had Isla at 4pm in the after noon,..went to sleep at 7.30pm that night,....
so awake for 36 hrs with no sleep at all and actual labour was 23 hrs

I was induced also - gel at 5pm, drip at 12am, baby at 10.54am... so no sleep all night and not alot after the baby either - makes for a lot of tears!!

But my SIL realises that she is in labour and has a baby in her arms less than 2 hours later. The lucky b*tch has done this with all 3 of her babies!!

My active labour was just over 3 hours long.

My prelabour started @ 9:30am, this is nothing, it's easy you can't sleep through it (well I couldn't) but you can relax - I went home and had a bath then played boardgames with DH and mum.

Active labour started at 4:45pm and I headed into hospital and was about 4cm when I got there. By 7:30pm I was 10cm and by 8:04pm I was holding my daughter.

Don't worry if you haven't had sleep for a day before baby comes, you'll be buzzing with adrenaline afterwards anyway.

I had no prelabour etc. Woke up at 7am one week over due after a good nights sleep ( well as good as it gets at that stage), drove my hubby to work, had a walk around the city and then drove home about 12.00noon. My waters broke at 12.30pm and had her at 4.10pm that afternoon so under 4 hours for labour from start to finish.

Everyone is different but i think the most important thing is to make sure that you get plenty of rest when you can in the lead up to labour.

I was induced. Had my waters broken at 12.30 and had my boy at 7pm so 61/2 hours. hi ladies

my aunty is in labour at the moment and 28 hours after she was induced she is still going! so this has kinda brought the whole birth / labour thing home to me as I hadnt really or rather didnt want to think about it up until now! and have just realised that you may have not slept for over 24 hours by the time bubs actually arrives! eak!
