Didn't use it for daynaps at home as we have a cot set up in the lounge. The girls slept so well in it when out and about.
Would have loved it even more if they did a sun cover for it.

We changed over as the girls are getting more inquisitive and also there's nothing like a double MB carrycot charging through a shopping centre to draw attention. Now that they're in the buggy with the sun cover on we're less noticeable.

Plunket did comment on the fact that the girls weren't fastened into it though. Probably more of an issue with 2.

I think you could manage without it but, like Tiff, I loved being able to see them when out walking.

It was good for that purpose i just didnt like that it doesnt have a cover to protect newborn baby from the elements. I was paranoid Josh's face would get burnt in the sun or that the wind was getting into it. (We are currently in invers so the weather can be one extreme to the next)

Really depends what else you already have cos we had a rocking vibrating bassinette that put josh to sleep so easily and it was so easy to move to the lounge so we only ever had a need when we were out at a restaurant (once).

Like i said depends on your budget and what else you already have as you can get buy with out one. However MB stuff does hold its value pretty well if you do get one and decide to sell it.

Just my opinion and experiences with it. It wasnt a waste of money but it wasnt essential to us either. Everyone else seems to love them.

But as we used it as a bassinette for the first few weeks it was well used and as the others said great as a portable bed (sometimes we would take just that rather than whole buggy), and when walking I loved having her face me, plus it's so nice and snuggly for them (and they look gorgy!). I managed to get one 2nd hand from a friend for $80 and just bought a new mattress from Mountain Buggy and aired it all out well before use. Although if money hadn't been an issue I would have loved to get a new one as the new style is sooo lovely.

It was really useful when we went away while DD was young as we could just take the stroller with the bassinette attachment and use that as a port-a-cot. We used it for about three months and found it really great to be able to see DD while we were using the buggy. I like having the baby facing you while they are so young, rather than having to peer down through the plastic window. Now that DD2 is here we're still using it as a second bassinette in the lounge if I need to put her down for a bit (instead of putting her on the floor) and will be using it for her on the stroller as well.

If you dont wanna blow the budget i wouldnt bother with it as the seat reclines far enough and you can use a storm and shade cover over the seat but this doesnt work for the carrycot (well we couldnt get it to work). I found we would go out and on the way home we couldnt shield the sun from Joshs face. We used it most going out to tea/gatherings (on its own as a portacot not attached to base) so we could just lie Josh in it to sleep while we ate etc
