He met one of the producers on a night out (if I recall correctly from the goodmorning show) .. they said how cool it would be to have a real doctor on the show and would he like to audition .. so he did (and obv got it).

Danesh is a real life doc - saw him working at Auckland Hospital two weeks ago. Would find it rather weird having him as my doctor though.

And, am not a big Shane Cortese fan either. I don't think he was working at the time he did Shorters. But they are a few months of filming ahead aren't they? He probably just did SHorters to pay off his student loan and take a break after so many years of studying!
