Yep we don't immunise funnily enough over 50% of the kids we know who have been immunised have come down with the illnesses they're now sposed to be immune to while my kids get winter bugs and thats it! Good luck with your decision Muppetsmama!!  I started this topic several years ago, mo son is now 2 1/2.  I did end up delaying his immunisations, we didnt start until he was 15months old.  I really wasnt ready to make the decision when he was so young and I am glad that I waited

It was to deal with the epidemic at the time basically. If enough people got it done, then the epidemic would die down which it has. I read in the paper recently that the immune time of the menzb was in terms of months rather than years. I'm wondering if I can forget about the last menzb one.  I never felt right about giving them so I am not bothered if he is immune or not, it just seems such a waste of time and it was a very sore one. I have found my clinic book (I am an Aussie baby) and my jabs were given at 2, 4 and 5 months for Triple Antigen (which is Diptheria, Tetanus and whooping cough), 2, 5 and 7 months I had Sabin Oral Polio Vaccine. 12 months I had Smallpox and Measles. 13 months I has another Sabin Oral Polio Vaccine. 18 months I had the last dose of Triple Antigen and the Chicken Pox Vaccine.

Joshua has been fully immunised for menzb, but due to my reluctance regarding the 15mos ones and the correlation between them and autism I've still not had those ones done. We delayed our first two girls' imms; for the 1st one we couldn't decide whether to imm or not until 10mos. Our dr was great at answering our questions and totally not pushing when we weren't ready.

I'm not sure why the Austrailian schedule is different to ours, but I do know that I got my jabs under the Oz schedule and got the chicken pox jab.

can anyone tell me why australia has different schedule...2,4 ,6 months then a year...when we have 6 weeks 3,5,10 15 months? makes no sense to me?:(

I did my research, and chose not to vaccinate. I didn't do the menZb to the schedule, but it was done at a later date. I started Josh's menZb at 6 months and he only needed 3 jabs instead of 4.

Like Stacey, we thought 3 at once was too much. Isla is fully immunised, but we just got one in each leg and then I would take her back a week or 2 later for the menzb one. We have not vaccinated. We looked at all the pros and cons and also DH is friends with an ex GP who was involved in research into immunisation in Belgium and after considering all the facts we decided that we would take the risk of him catching one of the illnesses and be armed with dealing with the consequences. We didn't do the menzb ones (though we did the others) as firstly we thought that 3 jabs in one go to a tiny bubba was far too much and we were glad we didn't as Daniel reacted badly to one of them. We gave him his first menzb one recently as DH suddenly decided he wanted him to have it.

I am wondering if any mums here have chosen not to vaccinate their children and if so how you made that decision?  Or has anyone delayed the vaccinations?  Drew is coming up 8 weeks and I havent been in to get his 6 week ones done yet  Am not wanting a vaccination debate, just interested in hearing from those who have made this decision.  Thanks!!
