When we got to thearte the anethatis(sp?) noticed he had a scratch on his chest, and I hadn't noticed it. They must have looked some more to find spots on his arms and tummy. Surgery was finished and he was confined to the room for the rest of the hosptial stay. We are at day 3 and the pain is kicking in and the not eating and drinking as well.

Recovery nurses thought I was a nurse as I was so relaxed seeing my child wake after the op and I knew about the drugs he was being given, but when it is general number 4 for your children you get kinda used to it all. And it helps I have a friend who is a ICU nurse and I helped her study for her drug exam I learnt a few things too.

    Author: fattartsrock
Subject: 14789
Posted: 02 June 2010 at 7:53pm

Thats cool about your job, Becks.
Hope the surgery goes well for Josh. Good to hear he's settling in at pre school well. It makes things soo much easier, eh?
I'm thinking about leaving MH after almost 7 years. I only do casual work, but seem to be getting rostered on for more and more work and more and more weekends which I really really don't want to do as its all day. Rod plays golf and it means I don't get to see him really if I work a weekend day and if its a saturday I need to find a sitter for Charly while Rod coaches Jakes Rugby. Am so unhappy. Our new manager in training is a guy and hes a real blowhard. Everything that comes out his mouth is bullsh*t and lies and he is soo patronising. The other day he told me off for merchandising stock, because apaprently I wouldn't know how to do that. WTF buddy, I have been there for almost 7 bloody years. I feel a bit torn cos I love the manager, I consider her a good friend, however I feel a bit taken advantage of cos she knows I find it hard to say no to her in terms of work, and I know shes stressed out cos staff are dropping like flies and positions are hard to fill wiht peole wioth the right calibre, but in reality I really only want about 8 to 10 hours a week. Argh. Oooh big rant.
I had to fight and argue and swing a favour inthe end to get Charly seen by plunket as apparently they don't do 3 year old checks any more unless you are "at risk" (read young, poor, single or brown). I am at risk of bloody hurting her, so I told them that. She is very very naughty. She is soo stubborn and will not budge an inch over anything and its hard hard work. I resent her often becasue she is such hard work., She argues and backchats and just will not do a damn thing. When shes good, she is oh so good, but unfortunately she is not good alot!!! I have been given a referal to barnardoes to find out some ways of dealing with her.
Her eyesight I picked up is ot good and we saw a specialist who only checked her eyes to humour me as apparently he dosen't like seeing kids under 4 because they don't follow instructions (you are telling me, buddy!) Turned out she has astignatism (I felt like saying to the Dr IN YOUR FACE OLD MAN!) and she has glasses now and has had them for a week and I noticed the difference immediately.
She weighs about 12.5 kilos and has really filled out. Probably more now, she never stops eating. Has 3 huge bowls of cereal a breakfast and hungry an hour later! Making up for lost time. She is 92 cm, so still little, and still looks petite and still very very cute, which is her saving grace.
Am going to get her hearing checked next as she speaks very very loudly and alaways says what? You have to talk loud to her too....mind you I yell at her alot too, so maybe she's not used to normal volume, lol.
She still gets very sick, catches everything going, but remains happy most of the time. Love pre school and heading towards night time dry, too. Loves drawing and her dolls and cuddles, and since getting her glasses has become very good at puzzles! Very musical like her brother. Comes out with some very very funny sayings. At times a real delight! Am dreading teen years if this is anything to go by!
Wow a novel and a big old Rant!!!!
XXXX

He checked his ears out today and I knew 1 grommet was out already as I have it, but he has fluid in that ear again so in they go again!!!

Looking forward to the surgery for Josh cos at least it will help with a few things Josh has at the moment and the adenoids coming out will hopefully stop the constant runny nose too.

Josh is loving his new preschool. Whenever I drop him off he goes in sits at the table has his yoghurt for breakfast and I say goodbye give hima kiss and a cuddle and he waves bye to me no problems. I love his focus teacher he has she is wonderful with him and the rest of the teachers are great too. They said Josh just fitted in really well.

I am enjoying my job - loving the internet at my desk, rather than having to go to another room to use it!!! I am liking the responsiblity I have been given and so far seem to be proving myself as my boss is impressed with what I have achieved so far.

    Author: BuzzyBee
Subject: 14789
Posted: 08 March 2010 at 3:20am

Just wanted to stop in and say Happy Birthday to Ella for yesterday! Judging by the photos on FB she's had a lovely B'day weekend!

Just over two weeks till its our turn here, I'm doing a mini birthday party for L with just my parents, bro, Nana, best friend & her partner and another good friend of mine. Was going to extend it to my aunties and dads family etc, but I know that they'll complain and claim I'm only inviting them to get a present out of them (that's what they did when my cousin threw her 1yo a party recently) so i'll abandon that idea. The kids got far too many toys as it is!

So know what you mean about overload of toys Ro, we're in a 2 bedroom unit and seriously, his room is full at the seams, as is my garage, my bedroom and the lounge is ALWAYS trashed with toys everywhere. The only time i can see my floor is when he's asleep and I get a chance to clean and put them away. I'm really starting to resent myself for going overboard when he was younger!

So do I have to ring Plunket to organize the 3yo check up? Coz if the past is anything to go by, i'll never hear from them otherwise...

Had the cutest moment today, left little man for literally 1-2 minutes in the car whilst I grabbed something inside. Brother & I return to find him with my Kit Kat Chunky bar in hand, half demolished, choc smeared all over his face, wrapper on the floor. And before I even got the chance to say anything he pipes up with a mouth full of chocolate 'I was just opening your chocolate bar for you Mummy, sorry'. Lol.
I don't think Cambridge is far from Hamilton ...but don't quote me on that, have only been out of Auckland twice in my whole 22 years of existance ...and that was to Rotorua lol!!!

His Mum is constantly going on about how nice and lovely Cambridge is, nice little township and how she can't wait to retire there, lots of craft markets and cafes etc, sounds nice and relaxing. Auckland is highly overated and so bloody expensive! I think renting down those ways is relatively cheap in comparison too, I'm paying $280 p/week at the new place (and the old one) ...and both are tiny 2 bedroom units, with very small sections.

Best of luck with the jobs you're applying for! What line of work will your DH go into if he's not returning to the Army?

Ive been wondering about you and how you are gettign along with your lovely wee man.

We are fineish - will be better in a week when stepson moves out.

Kids are well, growing like mushrooms, Charlotte has finally gotten a bit taller and filled out a tiny wee bit, and although she is still only 11 kgs, she looks better covered, if you get my drift. She is now wearing (finally) size 2's! (although sz 2 pants are still a bit big for her round the waist/bum area). Her speech is AMAZING. Very clear and consice and everyone who speaks to her knows exactly what tshe is saying. She can be very "spirited" and a bit of a handfull at times, but is a delight, and very loving and cuddly. She certainly stands her ground when bigger kids might think they have an easy target, which is a good thing, lol.

She will start at the Catholic Preschool here that is run sessional like a kindy in term one next year, and she is really looking forward to it. Jake already goes there. She is doing well with swimming, and can actually "swim" quite well, so thats fun.

Tiolet training was goign wellish, but she got sick with asthma and a chest infection a week ago, so its regressed right back, she has also started reacting to grapes in a code brown way and If I think about it, I think thats when the regression started. I'm ot too worried, we will ge there.

I think thats about it from us! Any other gossip etc is peppered around the forums, lol.

XXA

I check in now and then but never post. Can't really be bothered.
Alyssa is TTed too she's really good also had some No.2 problems to start with but all sweet now. Shes pretty good at night as well as Mummy sometimes forgets to put on her nappy and so far so good although I'm not really keen on risking it as she seems to end up in our bed most nights (bad mummy here!!!) Miss Lys is still pretty small about 90cm and still in mostly size 2s but she's talking up a storm and is loving daycare, has a little posse she hangs with, they are really cute.

I'm being made redundant on Nov 27th so I am trying to think of something to do with the rest of my life might be fun to start again and train to do something I'm interested in as I have had the same job since school (21 years ) But for now I'm going to have a bit of a break as DH just started a new job as well so wont have any holidays for a while and someone will need to look after the kids in the school holidays so thought I'd look at doing something when the kids go back.

I'm bursting to go to OZ too. Might have to put aside a bit of my redundancy for that next year , I really want to see my big Sis as she just had number 7 in July.

Elle is Day TT as well - she pretty much did it all herself - starting just before Brodie was born and haven't had any oopsies for a few months. No 2's took a bit longer to sort but now they are sweet!! Sooo much easier!!!

She's in size 3 for most stuff too - She is pretty tall 98.5cm at 29 months (and 15.2kg), taller than most of the kids her age - makes her look older than she is!

She's pretty full on and has endless energy (*yawn*) not like her Mum ATM!! Loves her wee Brother. She's in DC 2 afternoons a week - so she can hang out with all the kids, and she loves it. Will put maybe put her in for a couple of extra afternoons when she turns 3 (with the 20hrs free DC) - we don't have a kindy out here and to take her to one would be a 40min round drive - not so keen for that, so DC will be her kindy basically!

Yay for Aussie Becks - we are heading to Chch in Nov (for the Pearl Jam concert and to see my Mum and Dad), just - like 10mins ago - scored $39 flights home for Elle, Brodie and me so we can stay up there for a week and hang out - poor Dh has to come home for work hehe!

How are you? How are Charlotte & Jake?

Ro I just had a look at your new 'baby' - what a brilliant idea! Best of luck with the launch...will be keeping a close eye (not that I plan on getting up the duff anytime soon, but for future reference)

I was a size 10 prior to falling preg with lucas and D cup, then I got pretty big (for my frame) in pregnancy, put on just over 20kg all up and I couldn't personally justify the expense I'd have to go to for a maternity wardrobe so as I got bigger I started buying size 16's etc from cheaper stores and in sales (ie. warehouse, farmers) and swayed more towards tops that came in under the bust, they were comfy and accentuated my growing bump. Even 2nd time around I'd still steer clear of brands like PP Maternity and Egg, its a lot of money to spend for the short period you'd be wearing the clothes iykwim and the clothes seem to be aimed at ladies who have the 'perfect' figure pre-pregnancy and are all bump. I tried on a few pieces and looked god damn awful in them.

After I had Lucas I went up to DD cup (and sadly after breastfeeding for two years I'm now a measly C ...if im lucky ). Lost baby weight pretty quickly but even with being a shortass and smaller frame to start with the maternity wear out there just didn't do it for me. So I guess my experience *kinda* counts towards your research ...come 32 weeks I was living in my size 16 tops, my pants I was in size 14 black cotton yoga type pants (Active intent ones from the warehouse actually), you know the ones with the expandable WIDE waistbands that grow with your tummy. Totally not even meant for pregnancy but I wouldn't have been without them, you can get similar pants at places like Shanton...Glassons etc.

Ok so thats my 2cents, prob should have put it in the research thread, sorry...

I don't think I could have handled moving too far away from the olds for starters - Dad visits Lucas almost every day and their support has been amazing.

Next time we move (which at this stage looks like it will be in 11 months time which I REALLY don't want, theres nothing worse than moving from place to place with a kid, no stability in their lives) it will be far far away from Papakura, maybe even out of Auckland. Need a fresh start, clean slate and all that.

So what does everyone have planned for their weekends? Looks like the weather today is going to be brilliant, heres hoping the weekend stays that way too in Auck.

Finally bought some new rechargeable batts for my camera the other dayand got some pics of lucas ...in all the hassle of house hunting and moving I hadn't bothered to take photos since his 2nd bday! And to think when he was a baby I was taking photos almost daily lol. Posted a couple in the photo section too.

BS did you see those gorgeous wooden painted kids chairs for only $10 at Clevedon? Everytime we go out there the guy has lots of pretty girls chairs, never any boys left. Incredibly frustrating! I think its 'Kingseat Arts & Crafts' that make 'em.

Right, off to phone our property manager again, whats the bet ill get the answer machine AGAIN!?!?!?!
She eats so much but it bypasses adding weight to her and just adds to her height...ugh we did the double at age two thing and she will be 5 cms taller than me! about 6 foot 3!

What brought you out to our neck of the woods?

Mmm Callums Bakery pies are sooo yum!

We have our property manager coming out tomorrow, I'm getting her to check out a few issues with the house...winter is THE WORST time to move, its so bloody damp/cold and we are having problems with mould everywhere. Its a lovely little house, but sadly the mould issues are taking their toll on my health. Asthma is totally out of control and Lucas has been suffering too. Our Doc diagnosed him with asthma last month as well as eczema, so the poor wee tike is on inhalers & steroid creams just like his mummy. Bring on Summer already I say!

I agree with Susie, Ella does look very tall in her latest pics (and not to mention beautiful).

Lucas played with all his cousins today, albiet his older cousins (11 & 13) but he had a blast. His 5 month old cousin was there too, and he was sitting on mums lap. He goes up to James and lifts his arms and says 'get up' (whilst trying to show him how to stand) ..'Come on stand up now' and by this stage he was pulling the little guys arms and desperately trying to get him standing. He was getting so frustrated that the little guy couldn't run and play too. Was rather amusing to watch.

Ahh excuse the novel, I have no one else to talk to tonight lol!

(Too lazy)

I can't believe how fast the last two years have flown by.

Miss Alyssa is doing great she's a real chatter box now really bright and very bossy. We all do as we're told in our house. It's funny watching her boss Tasha and Alex around. Should really nip that in the bud so she doesn't end up to bossy. But it's pretty hard to say no to her. I think it's just that this stage is so very cute.

Well she's a bit of a shorty still at 84cm and 12.1kg
Tasha was the same height at that age but 11kg
Alex was 89cm and 12kg and she is still pretty tall, her and Tasha are the same height.

I can't believe our wee Bubbas are turning 2 already!

Well done Steph on the weaning sounds like wee Lucas is doing really well. And glad to hear your Op went well - saw your pics on facebook - looks ouch but your Haircut looks FANTASTIC!!!! You look Stunning!

Elle's vocab has really taken off as well. She has become a little parrot and I have to remind DH alot to watch his language. She even says Ka kite for goodbye now - it sounds so cute!

She is off for her 1st weekend away from either of us at the end of the month. Mum is flying down and picking her up and we are off to a very good friends wedding in Tekapo. Cause Mum always talks about it with her Elle keeps saying Nanna - Plane, go to see Rosie (thats their dog). She is very excited! Then we are heading back to Chch to pick her up and going to the Kings of Leon concert while we are there - yay!

We have also booked her into childcare for 2 afternoons a week starting in April, she is going to love spending the time with all the other kids! And will give DH and I just a wee bit of time to either chill out or get things done, before or after work.

He literally changed overnight, it was clearly the perfect time to go cold turkey. First 2 nights whilst I was in hosp parents copped the brunt of it, he woke a couple times on both the Monday and Tues, then on Wed night when I was back he woke but managed to settle after many a tears and me telling him titty was all gone, thurs he slept through and has done since. In turn he's eating better and much better behaved (less tanties ....most days). I think Mum feels better too, not having her titties yanked to high hell in every direction imaginably possible Miss the bond though, something chronic. But I think we've learnt to appreciate each other much more, and in diff ways iykwim. Def tugs on the emotional strings this bfing/weaning business.

And talking up a storm ...finally. For the greater part of 14-22 months he just point blank refused to say anything apart from 5 or 6 words, or if he did they were 1 hit wonders. Now he parrots everything, even the not-so-good words (thank god he can't pronounce 'F' properly)

Everynight before bed we lie there together (yeah he may be self settling but we still co-sleep, once he's in a bed in his own room i'll leave the room after he's settled) he says routinely, every night without fail 'Night Mama, by Nana, bye Poppa, bye Gah (name he has for my bro), bye cat ...then waves at the window whilst saying 'bye moon an stars'. Give him 2 mins and he's conked out. Usually it could take anywhere up to hours just to settle him and i'd resort to breast.

Hope I'm not cursing myself by raving on & on about my 'angel'. I'm just so proud of him, he's handling the change so so well!

Lucas isn't chubba anymore (far from it really) but he's tall and still often mistaken for being older because of that. He's in size 3's now (some size 4 tops). Means the clothes cost that much more, def make the most of cheap baby sizing Annie! That's def a plus and sounds like Charly is absolutely thriving despite being a wee lass.

Sounds like you are going through some rough times with your Nanna and Pop, and you yourself! I hope it all goes smoothly for you on Monday and the cyst can be safely removed (hopefully for you via keyhole) without having to remove your ovary. Hows your Nana dealing with the amputations? Is she getting on well with the physio?

AzzaNZ - happy birthday to your little one, and Same for you Becks and Annie for Josh and Charly's birthdays over the weekend (in case I don't make it on here which is likely as I am working all darn weekend), we will need to post some pics soon of our big 2 (or nearly 2) year olds.

Am halfway in the next few days, had scan today and went really well. Haven't found out the flavour - I really wanted to but DH spoilt all my fun! Mind you I did have the chance to ask when he was out of the room with Elle but (ok I did ask and then the sonographer said "really" which made me think) I would probably spill it that I knew or slip up in some way. I can't believe it, feels like we were only just celebrating them turning 1!

Annie, Charly sounds so cute talking about her birthday. Lucas on the other hand prob has no idea what I'm talking about, but he's slowly getting there with his language. He's picking up about 3-5 words per day now, can string 1-3 words together seldomly. So darn cute!

We won't be celebrating ....maybe a lunch/afternoon tea with my family and dads sisters etc. Nana isn't sure if she'll be out of hospital and we're doubtful my Pop will make it. He's very very ill at the moment.

I'm going in for surgery on Monday ....finally! Have a cyst in my ovary measuring 8cm, have had to go through a series of tumor tests due to further examination showing it to have nodular components, ovarian cancer strongly in the family etc etc. So waiting on those results as they'll determine whether its keyhole or open surgery, and whether i'll just lose the cyst or the whole ovary so as not to spill it and risk the spread of anything unmentionable. They're going to check for endo and fertility levels while they're at it. I have such a lovely gynecologist. Couldn't ask for better

I just can't wait to be pain free, and enjoy Lucas instead of wanting to constantly crawl into bed and die.

Hope everyone else is doing well, Hails how is your pregnancy coming along? Have you found out baby's sex yet? (sorry if i've missed something somewhere) Leish how is Iliana treating you? And hows Noah?

My Grandfather had both his legs amputated (and my great-grandmother did too), it is scary to think of them going through all that and sad as well, so I am sending you huge cyber hugs . I hope things start getting better for her soon!

Leish sounds like things are going really well for you and the family! Glad to hear Noah has coped well with a new baby in the house. Elle seems to be quite fussy now with her eating too *sigh* I probably give in to her too easily ATM as well, being slightly more tired than usual when I get home from work.

gosh Charlotte sounds soo little, I hate to think how big Elle is now, she towers above alot of children older than her, must remember to book her in for a 24 month plunket visit sometime soon.

Becks good luck with the grommets, I know of a few people whose children had them put in and notice such a huge difference!

And as far as we go down here, Elle is great, doesn't sit still much and is VERY independant. She won't go in the pram anymore (well hardly ever) and wants to walk everywhere. Started swimming with her lately but not lessons yet, just getting her more confident in the pool. Thinking next summer for lessons. As for me, I am steadily growing a belly, which has kinda just popped out a bit in the last week, feeling ALOT better than I was to start with. It feels alot different this time around, especially with a toddler, I guess you just don't get the time to take things in and you know more of what to expect etc. Have been feeling movements from very early on - maybe 14 weeks - which I kinda didn't believe they were movements til they kept on happening.

God this has been a novel! And I have to take my nice round belly to bed (am such a nanna ATM). Good to hear from everyone!

Has Lucas started eating any more variety of food? Noah is shocking. He never tries anything new and has quite a limited range of foods that he will eat. Thats my big thing to tackle in the next couple of months. What kinds of toys is Lucas loving? Noah is really into little figures esp a set of LOTR chess pieces of Christophers. He also loves his space shuttle he got for Christmas and can count backward from 10 and yells "launch" and flies them around the house. And Noah?

Things aren't so good here, especially regarding Nan & Pop

Nana is in hospital, has been for two weeks since we had to rush her in there. She has type 2 diabetes and had severe wounds to her foot, gangrene. Has had several ops and was found to have no circulation below the knee in one of her legs, so was told the leg was coming off. But alas they managed to find a vein that they could re-route which they have done, but two toes have been amputated to date (big toe and one next to it) so she will have to go to rehab and learn to walk again (all your balance is on those toes and she was crippled enough and crouched over as it was). Worse part is that she is suffering really bad chest pains and has had a 2 mild heart attacks already (she has long history of heart problems, can't remember what its called but she has something holding her heart together ...a stert or stern? - something like that). things aren't looking good and it's very touch and go. Pop on the other hand is still deteriorating with his Alzheimers and is calling 8 or so times a day asking after Nana (has forgotten she's left him and what the update is on her in hospital). Tough times, we will get through.

I have no idea how long Nana will be in hospital for though, I've been told by several people (including hospital nurse) that with the type 2 diabetes/gangrene once they start chopping it just carries on. So even though she may have her leg now, further down the track it will be amputated. I don't see her ever leaving the hospital

On a brighter note (if there can be one ) my little guy is starting to pick up a couple words ...not sure if I'm too fond of them though! Dumb, bum and man. And he has a real nick for mixing and matching them, called my Dad a 'Dumb Man', Nana is apparently a ''dumb bum nana' and I'm 'dumb mum' when i won't give into his paddy's. Oh boy. He seems to have a lot of one hit wonders too (as in words or phrases he will say once, and then never to be heard again!). Today it was Nana telling him not to touch her China and he replied blatantly 'I KNOW THAT!' and he carried on trying to grab it anyway. Cheeky little so and so.

How is everyone? Hails how is your pregnancy coming along, how many weeks are ya now? Finding out the sex?

Edited by BuzzyBee
