Went back to the GP today and she's happy to put me back on amitrip but says I can't breastfeed on it (and that's not what the research actually says when you read it but she won't discuss it). I've told her to ring the pain specialists and get their opinion about meds as I don't want to be swapping meds just after pushing this baby out. I do get sick of having to tell my GP what to do. Also got the sleeping pills that have worked in the past so hopefully if my sleep gets better, that will help my pain. I have been given codeine but don't want the constipation that comes with it, so am giving it a miss. Thanks for the tip about osteos - will keep it in mind. And yep Kye, computers suck big time!

Makes it hard to walk and do the smallest of tasks. I was taking codiene, but it doesnt work now, so i'm not on anything. I found that the osteopath didnt help - mine doesnt like cracking either, but i just found the gentle movements he was doing wasnt helping me situation.
I go to a guy in Whangarei but he did recommend to me a lady in K Road for pregnancy related osteo work in case I was in Auckland

to be honest I dont know how Im going to be later on with work as the computer is one of the main agrivating factors and along with you always the sleep relaxation and reduce stress factors which help all the best I hope that you can find a way to manage your pain for the rest of your pregnancy

Might be worth a try as Doctors seem to only ever prescribe drugs (and often needlessly) or refer you to a specialist.

I know of a couple of people who have used an osteopath to assist with this issue during pregnancy and after the birth. Where abouts are you based. Might be able to reccomend someone.

But the Dr said if I really couldn't cope I could go back onit throughout the pregnancy. Not sure what will be my options once Bfing but you should be able to ask your dr. now so you can make an informed decision for then.

Other thing I find REALLY REAlLY helpful is a TENS machine. These block the nerve pain signals by small electrical pulses. They are completely safe during pregnancy and people even use them during labour. A physio would be able to set you up with one for home in most cases I believe.

Hope that helps.

My pain is brought on by activity, so to some extent I can manage it, but stress aggravates it, so lack of sleep plus weird pregnancy things equals painful me. The best thing I've found for me is that when I'm in pain to curl up as comfy as I can with a good book to get lost in. It doesn't always work, and it doesn't help get anything done, but it's a nice break from being in pain for a while.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but do know there are others who know to some extent how you feel.

Hugs

-Kathy

I got taken off my meds when I got pregnant (stupid GP who doesn't know anything about pain meds) and am now having another flare - when combined with sh*te sleep, makes for a not very pretty me! Culminated today in 3 hours of back spasms which have partially responded to deep heat, wheat bag and pain killers. I'm thinking about going back on amitrip but am worried about having to come off it when bubs is born if I want to BF. Would be great to know if there are others in a similar boat, or who have been in a similar boat (and if your pain is going well, would love to know how you're managing it!)
