I believe some will exclude difficult / high risk pregnancies however.

I travelled to the USA for 3 weeks in my second trimester, and other than the plane flight which was terribly uncomfortable, I had no issues. I told my MW before I was going, and had to take Cartia to help prevent DVT on the plane, but all was well and I didn't have any medical appointments over there. Granted, it'd probably be different if it was for a significantly longer period of time.

We're considering starting TTC whilst on an overseas trip next year - I could be up to 3 months pregnant before we came home. If I wasn't pregnant when I took out travel insurance, would it be a pre-existing condition?
Sorry to threadjack emachan!

However if you require extra care, it may cost you dearly so better check travel insurance will cover you. When in the 2nd trimester do you plan to travel? If say you leave in the 5th month for 3 months you may also need to deliver there so check that too.

You wouldn't qualify for any free maternity care, I have Medicare which covered my emergency treatment in hospital (I was there when I had my m/c and d and c, and again when I had bleeding with this bub) but I had to pay $180 for my NT scan with this bub, and $260 for a growth scan with the gremlins coz I was away at the times those scans needed to be done.
