But it is generally safe as long as it is cooked properly and eaten straight away. I wouldn't eat left over chicken either even if it was reheated just to be safe.
In saying that, when I was preg at christmas I wouldn't eat any takeaways unless they were vegetarian (didn't trust anyone else to cook meat for me). I'm such a geek.
Plus, when I was first preg with Maya I was so clueless, I didn't even know what listeria was, I craved luncheon sausage and cheese sanwiches and ate huge piles of them. I was horrified when I realised, but Maya turned out fine.
Sometimes I think I know too much, and it's not always a good thing...

The reason pregnant women are supposed to avoid it unless they know exactly when it was cooked (and that it has been reheated fully if necessary) is to avoid that nasty bacteria.

Having said that, I ate chicken (including KFC) often right through both my pregnancies. I just made sure I knew who cooked it and didn't buy any from a deli or cafe when I wasn't 100% sure it had been cooked that day.

You know your own body better than they do, and I'm not saying to abandon *all* protocol or anything... but if having stuff made fresh is a no no, then I'd scream ! I have the cafe in my building make my sandwiches for me if I buy one from them, and haven't had any issues at all. I'm also wondering why we have to avoid chicken? I love chicken !
