My m/w said call her if they don't go away (and you can't get rid of them) for 2-3 days. If you're concerned, ring a m/w and they may do an internal (or at the hospital if your m/w's away) - they'll easily be able to tell if you're dialating. If you're not, they'll basically send you home and tell you to take panadol and have warm baths/showers. Not helpful I know!

Some people said you can have pre-labour for 3-4 weeks before bubs comes (which isn't very helpful either I know) where you get peaking BH etc. I'll let you know anyway, as mine's been 9 days straight and still no sign of bubs impending arrival!

I have been getting the same kind of thing u have been describing for a few weeks, I think for me it's just the Braxton Hicks pushing her down into the nerves in my pelvis etc. But if u r worried about it at all then call your midwife... she won't mind reassuring u if it's nothing, and she would rather know if it is something! Hope you feel more comfortable soon

I had this the other night after special cuddles... they didn't seem to 'peak' but I did get pains up the top and down the bottom of my belly. How are you feeling this morning?

But mine wouldn't have what I'd call 'peaks' to them. I think mine are just my body starting to practice doing its thing for real labour. I say to give the midwife a call (it's morning now anyway) and just run it by her so she can give you a check if necessary.

How are you feeling now?

    Author: MumsyMoo
Subject: 13395
Posted: 06 January 2008 at 1:37am

Ok, so I've had these pains before, but not for this long...

I can't say I've experienced Braxton Hicks as such, well... At least I don't think I have.

But anyways, for the last few hours (that's why I'm up so late) I've had my little girl what I can only describe as feeling like she's pushing off against my ribs. This combined with a tightening across my bump, the top especially, AND peaks with a sharp pain 'down there'... Almost feels like nerves pinching or something. I don't know...

I've tried lying down, but that does nothing, the only thing that kinda eases the uncomfortableness (lol, is that even a word!?) is standing up and walking round.

I'm hesitant about phoning a midwife, especially at this hour, and even more so as my midwife's still on leave... I don't really fancy phoning a stranger in the middle of the night.

So any ideas as to what's happening to me!?

I'd love it if she was coming! I'm pretty over being preggo, but I'm so clueless!

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Will definately phone a midwife if things are still happening in the morning.
