lilfatty, I would suggest you go to somewhere like the Baby factory and ask them to help you try it to see if it fits in your car. We have the trust carseat in a Mitzi Diamanti(sp) so it's a pretty big car and it's a bit of a squeeze. DH can't sit in the front seat if I'm driving so I think maybe those convertible car seats are just big. We will live with not using that front seat much until we turn the seat around.

BS, have you guys thought of going to a place like para rubber and getting a piece of foam or something similar to put against the part of the seat that rubs against the leather? I've tried the Safe and Sound and it was too big.

And I've got a Motherschoice one to try tomorrow (it's currently in the boot!).

The Mothers Choice/IGC/Baby Wise/GoSafe carseats are lower in the back than the Safe and Sound range, I don't know much about the Evenflo convertible so I don't know which one it compares to in length, but I had a Go Safe convertible for Maya and it fitted rear-facing in my Polo. Damn I miss my Polo, I LOVED that car! yeah we have the mat under it but it rubs against back of the front passenger seat and if we move it forward there is little leg room....DH keeps wanting to turn her round cause of it...I nt let him...might get CRS onto him LMAO!!!

oh no! You can put a very thin cloth underneath to protect the leather as long as it doesn't make the carseat slip around.
You do have to be living in the Trust zone to claim the free carseat, you take your ID, baby's birth certificate and your latest power bill in to prove you live there. They're pretty canny about that stuff unfortunately LOL. Hmmm that's annoying! Shame to waste a cheap seat, there may be something really quick and easy that you're missing? Have you taken it back to the ladies at Woodford Ave Carseat Rental to have a look at in your car? They might be able to help?
You could definitely hire another convertible but if you're looking to have Cooper RF till at least a year then it's a long time to have the first one sitting useless.

He's in his capsule now, but is going to grow out of it really soon. It's such a pain that it is only when it's rear facing.

Baby Factory weren't that helpful today. They pretty much said most of the carseats are the same size...........helpful!!

Two ladies in my coffee group have offered to let me try their seats in my car tomorrow, so fingers crossed one of the two fit!

You know sparkle.. the other thing you could do is keep the convertable one for once he's bigger and able to be forward facing and it won't take up so much room - as they are great (and expensive to buy)- and just go to plunket and hire a capsule for him while he's little. My car is a pain in the bum because it's not very big in the back seat and our safe and sound one fits just perfectly in there (and Daniel is rear facing of course). we have a sensible car(its up for sale too lol) and we are still getting a new one as there is no way i will get 2 capsuals and tashs convertable booster in the back seat...now we are going for a mummy wagon. just gotta find the money.

I had a carseat that fit into a volkwagen polo in the uk and I use to fit it behind the drivers seat so it couldn't have took up too much space. I would have a look around at some others. I don't think the one I had was a convertible one but it was one that fitted my 2 year old nephew so it wasn't a capsule and it was front facing. We've got an Evenflow convertable carseat and it doesn't fit my car!!!

The carseat is the one that Plunket give in West Auckland for the $25 donation, so it was not a case of I should have tried it in my car first.

Are all carseats about the same size? Am I going to have trouble finding one to fit? The way it is now the passenger seat is pretty much up to the dash and airbag, so too dangerous for anyone to sit there.
