I had a guest at my wedding who was 39 weeks pregnant. She spent all night on the dance floor trying to get bubs to hurry up! She even had a pact going with one of the groomsmen where if her waters broke, he was to immediately drop his drink and pretend the puddle was from that

I agree, you should say you're going to all of it and then see what happens. They should understand, and really, the things people get most worked up about before the wedding often end up being the least important things to them on the day. We also had a no show at our wedding and a couple who decided to leave halfway through to go to the pub down the road and watch the rugby, then come back afterwards for the free drinks. At the time we didn't give a hoot, they missed the meal, their loss. Or you could say that you intend on being at both, that way if you do want to stay on and enjoy the reception on the day you can, and if it's all a bit much, you can just head off - it shouldn't really matter to the bride and groom either way, considering you've got a good reason to be tired and maybe not in the mood for a party!  And don't worry about them thinking of 'replacing' you on the guest list or not - they've left it a bit late to invite someone new in your place anyway, and every wedding seems to have a couple of no-shows and a gate-crasher to make up for them.  Ours did - and we didn't care one bit.

I would (IMHO) say that you were going to the ceremony and then the dance bit later, that way you can head home, have sleep or eat when you want and then head back if you can be bothered. Awww, the wedding is about 5 mins away from the hospital in the car, with hazard lights on, ha ha. Yep, thinking of going to the wedding, would be a shame to miss it.

Adam was only asked about 1 month ago to be one of the groomsmen, crazy aye, as his friend is not having a "best man" just 3 groomsmen, and he was Adams!
And so therefore he has known for months that we are pregnant. In fact, the grooms brother and his wife are due on the same day as us. We had 3 ppl who had RSVP not turn up and I didn't really care on the day - I thought I would but even now I don't mind. We had a great day.
So I think they'd understand at the end of the day - you have a very reason if you don't turn up. My 3 didn't even bother coming up with an excuse

and in saying that I would expect my husband to be at the birth of his own child over being a groomsman at his bestfriend's wedding.

Lisha if they are true friends they will understand after all babies dont stick to a timetable.

Surely they thought about this before asking your DH to be a groomsman? Cos he's (hopefully) going to want to be at the birth of his child over his friend's wedding!

for me it would depend how far away the wedding is from where you are planning on giving birth.

I'm the wrong person to ask - both DH and myself are supposed to be in the wedding party for my SIL's wedding which is on our due date!!!!

If you haven't had the baby then going out might be a nice distraction, but theres nothing to say bubs won't be here by next weekend.
As it is your DHs friends wedding it probably wouldn't matter that much if you didn't go.

DH has his best friends wedding this coming weekend, and he is one of the groomsmen... anyway, bubs is due to come out within the next week, might be early or late! The question is... do I go?? and to the reception?
