Charly,

We have the caraboo rocker ... but we also plan to put her down in the portacot during the day so she can be nearer to DH.

We just got a proper mattress for the Portacot and it has a bassinet level...that might be a solution

We were given a bassinette by some friends... it has no frill on it, made out of strong cane and is really big. Thanks everyone

After reading your replies and talking to DH more, I think we'll probably go with the Cariboo one.
We wanted one with wheels so I could bring her around the house with me, but we really only need it for having her in our room for the first few weeks. So that would be ideal.

The rest of the time I'll just carry the baby monitor with me. Our house is SO small that I can be in her bedroom within 10 steps, no matter where in the house I am

We had the carriboo bassinet in the above photo and I really loved the style of it. No frills and easy to move around. I have a Cariboo bassinet and it's brilliant. I like having Alex in our room at the moment and the cot would never have fit, but it'll go into his room pretty soon. He's still got loads of room in it too, at least two more months worth of space I reckon.

It looks like this but it's all white including the wooden bits. I got it as a factory second off trademe but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

The bassinette mentioned above is the Cariboo Rocker (previously Ezi rocker) you can get them at The baby Factory. You can also get stands for them if you don't want to just use them in the cot. Or you can get the same style already on a stand (they used to be called Star Baby bassinette - but I can't remember their new name). Look up Cariboo on the internet that is the company that manufacturs them. Charly - we have one which we hung in the cot for DD and as it is quite wide and big she was in it until 6 months. I have just bought the stand for it for #2 in Jan. It doesn't have wheels as it is just a stand but can be easily shifted?? Not sure if it's the kind of thing you want or not but if so you can get them at BabyFactory/City. Can't remember which one now. Or online from Kiwi baby.

Cuppatea, its sounds like i have the same bassinette as you. I agree it is fairly unfrilly and not too expensive, although we are moving Madison out of it in the next week or so because she is becoming too big.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a non-frilly type with wheels...

Spencer is still in his now, although he was a small bub. I really like having him in our room, made things so much easier with night feeds and we couldn't fit his cot next to our bed. IMO - and I know this is OT - bassinettes are not usually worth buying, cause babies often grow out of them by 2mos. Hi, we got ours from babyfactory (have just looked and is not listed on their website). It has wheels and is fairly unfrilly. The main body is a cream/yellow with teddy bear pattern, there is a small amount of frill around the top but it is not OTT like some of them.

So DH and I have been searching high and low for basinettes.
More specifically, non-ugly, non-frilly frou-frou basinettes.

We want one with wheels, but the only ones we can find anywhere have lacy frills all over them.

Does anyone know anywhere that sells plain basinettes?
