Barriers, which is what most of the wooden ones are - you have to step over, rather than opening a gate. We have 2 different kinds of metal gates, basically because it was what would fit where we needed them to go - we needed one wide one for the hall & a narrow one for the stairs. Some are narrower than others, some you can buy extensions with to fit wider doors. Best to take your measurements & then see what you can get that fits!]]>
