Hannah loved being wrapped - wouldnt sleep otherwise. When she was in the bassinette, she was just wrapped then tightly tucked in sheets. When she moved to the cot I wrapped and then put safety sleep on, as she would wake up if she got her arms out. Stopped wrapping her at about 9 months, but it was a gradual process of into a sleeping bag with her arms inside (kinda like being wrapped but arms couldnt fly around) and a safety sleep, then arms in sleeves of sack with a safety sleep. Only took the safety sleep off the cot a few months ago (around 20 months). They are great if you go away and have to sleep them in a bed and they are familiar so she always slept anywhere.

All three of mine have been in safety sleeps, I love them and I'd put them on my Must Have list coz my girls slept heaps better with them. The other thing you can, and should do for safe sleep is make the bed up at the foot of the cot or basinette, so that baby's feet are at the foot of the bed. that way, yes they can move up and might get a bit cold, but they won't be able to move any further down under the covers. (have just had education session with the latest safe sleep recommendations). And yep, newborns move an amazing amount, some might stay still during sleep but others just move around sooo much even when wrapped, you go over and they've wriggled so much they're outta their wrap, have their hands out and have pushed themselves up with their feet and have their gowns down off their shoulders in a matter of minutes! lol they are cheeky

Our oldest loved being wrapped and loved the safety sleep , our next hated being restricted, she slept far better when we didn't use a wrap or the safety sleep, we didn't know to make the bed at the foot of the bed when ihad them, but we did short-sheet the bed so that the sheets stopped her from going down any further, and where i folded them over at the top, i put a safety pin at the edge either side that pinned it to the blankets so that it couldn't be pulled down.

Ahh yes well after reading the posts, I thought I would just use the safety sleep once bubs is in a cot.  Here is hoping she likes to be swaddled up

Our antenatal lady made a good poin - she said that if you wrap and then put bassinette blankets quite tight over them you get the same result. Then you look at the safety sleep for in the cot... (though I guess the same idea with the wrapping and blankets would work, if they liked being wrapped...

You ask great questions lilfatty! Just the things that I need to know too!!! We are planning on wrapping bubs when he arrives, and I have been told that when they are in the bassinet that wrapping on its own is fine. We have got a safety sleep which we will use as well as wrapping as soon as we move him into the cot.

We are wrapping Daniel still and don't bother with a safety sleep. It's actually annoying because when you undo it it scares him every time, he hates the sound of the huge velcro undoing. Do you not use the safety sleep in the bassinette as a newborn doesnt really move?  Just curious as I see they make them in bassinette size.

Rhyley liked be wrapped but my other son hated it and would always pull his hands out - funny thing is Josh is still like it hes all over the place and his sheets never stay in one place. LOL

I don't think all babies like being swaddled up - Gina hated it. We wrapped Isla until she was 10 months old, and started using safety sleep as well when she moved into cot at 3 months old. Now we just use the safety sleep. Its great! Hi more experienced parents out there ....

Im a little confused ... Ive heard that a baby should be all swaddled up to help them sleep better, but how does this work in conjunction with the Safe T Sleep?

Is it a case of one or the other ...??
