I use pockets and a couple of AIOs. I have some sized pockets but love my OSFA/most nappies and haven't had any problems with them. Velcro/snaps is personal preference - I personally prefer velcro at the moment as Kaleb has chubby legs and some snap systems don't fit too well on the bottom row.
You probably need to try a few out and a hire kit would be a good way to do this. I also know that you can use pockets as covers for prefolds.
You could always see if you can get an agent from one of the WAHM businesses to come and show you the nappies as well.
