So we are having a morning tea for Cooper's second birthday.

Food ideas, cause it's been a while since I've done a little kids party & Cooper isn't a normal food child (plus I'm too lazy to search previous topics)

So am thinking:
Plain chips
fruit kebabs, pear/apricot/watermelon
cupcakes
then birthday cake.

I don't need anything more than this do I??

I would add popcorn and marshmallows as possibles - the popcorn is good for many children with food issues if it is plain (one of the few treats allowed at our creche).

oh and cherios if you want a traditional kiwi thing

I've been thinking about this too. Your menu sounds good to me, I don't know what yours can't eat (mine is dairy free) but I was going to do fairy bread, iced biscuits, plain chippies, popcorn and fruit. And cake. Mini cupcakes would be good though.

Likewise, unsure what's on your no-go list but I did similar to you plus savoury muffins (veges, no cheese). My 2yo's party was late afternoon though I and I wanted to have enough food not to have to bother with tea after (for my DS).

Your menu sounds great, not too over-the-top and a 2yo will have little understanding anyhow. I'd actually consider dropping the cupcakes and bringing the birthday cake out right away as some little kids take a while to eat while others will lose interest and run off and play. Cupcakes + cake will probably be too filling.

Thanks guys.

Mum said cherio's, I'd totally forgotten about them!

He's pretty much no go on most foods. Which rules out things like popcorn.

I think I'll go with T's idea of dropping the cupcakes & put cherio's in their place. Cooper & his vege pal can just miss out on them.

...or if they have tomato sauce available, they may change their minds.... lol (assuming it's their choice to be vege, not their parents' choice!)
